Welcome, this is the site for the totally unofficial and probably pretty incompetent live blog for this Saturday's Nix vs Auckland City game.
I'm using CoverItLive to do the live feed, which will appear in the top window (no refresh required). People watching the feed can ask questions in the CoverItLive window, I'll do my best to answer it. Probably try to post some pics too.
I'm not associated with the Nix in any way apart from being a fan. Defamatory, rude and obnoxious comments are all my own.
Wellington Phoenix vs Auckland City (Abort: probably not going to blog this)
Probably not going to bother with the live blog, as it's being adequately covered elsewhere..I just want to watch the game..
Live blogging will start at about 1.30pm (NZ) in the CoverItLive window. Once it has started, there's no need to refresh your browser.. it's all live!
If you're not at a computer, CoverItLive has an app for Android and for members of the Steve Jobs Zombie Army. Just grab the app and find the event (I think).

Thanks all to people who watched my live blog...
Video of the Nix's 2nd goal is up:

A Bertos special delivery!
BTW... think I misidentified Sanchez.. he did not start as I reported, but scored the first goal for the Nix.
G'night all!
Update: I did screw up and misidentified Pantelis as Sanchez for part of the game.. Pantelis had a blinder, great work rate and skills.

Starting line up for tonights game!
The Phoenix starting line up against Melbourne Heart at Deakin Reserve is: Tony Warner, Ben Sigmund, Andrew Durante, Bryan Bran, Tony Lochhead, Vince Lia, Manny Muscat, Tim Brown, Paul Ifill, Mirjan Pavlovic and Lucas Pantelis.
The Melbourne Heart squad for tonight has been decided..
2. Michael MARRONE, 3. Brendan HAMILL, 8. Kristian SARKIES, 9. MAYCON, 13. Vedran JANJETOVIC GK (triallist) 14. Kamal IBRAHIM, 15. David WILLIAMS, 16. Aziz BEHICH, 17. Jason HOFFMAN, 21. Kliment TASESKI, 22. Nick KALMAR, 23. Mate DUGANDZIC, 25. Alon BLUMGART (triallist), 29. Karl DODD (triallist), 30. Sebastian MATTEI GK (triallist)
Info comes courtesy of the Heart website .. Lots of triallists in there, so the squad might be a bit raw. Then again, there'll be a bunch of people on the pitch with something to prove!

Quick note: the design on the left is my own, and I've made it (and other similar designs) into a t-shirt/hoodie which (in my biased opinion) looks pretty cool. Designs will be updated when the 2011 team is finalised, but the Phoenix already have the designs and my permission to use these designs as long as the profits go to the charities that they support (e.g Life Flight http://www.lifeflight.org.nz/). So if you want a t-shirt too, hassle the Wellington Phoenix store!
Hi all, I'll be providing a fast-paced commentary of the pre-season Heart vs Phoenix game. If I can find one of those beer-can-hats-with-a-straw, commentary may be a bit faster because I can then type with two hands.
I'll also try and provide a run-down of the least greasy fish and chip shop between Melbourne and Shepparton, as well as my impressions of the town, the crowd and the atmosphere.
Video updates, which may not be possible during the match, will be on my youtube channel, which you can access at the (currently empty) sidebar on the left.
The T.A.B. have released the current odds for the match, so place your bets...
Odds of me using the phrase "THAT'S A 9.5 ON THE RIGTER SCALE" during the commentary: 1.2:1
SCRATCHED! Oh well, good luck with those Greek leagues mate!
Odds of Marco Rojas getting a beer accidentally spilled in his lap if I see him in the crowd: 1.4:1
(All joking aside, good on you Rojas, do what's best to develop your game, after all, at least you're still an All White)
Odds of the locals referring to a good save by either goalie as "a really good mark": 2:1
Odds of the locals losing interest in Ridiculoball (AFL) and deciding to become soccer fans: 15:1
Odds of Harry Kewell copping a groin strain during the game, even though he doesn't play for either team, won't be at the match and probably isn't even in the country: 1.5:1
At the bottom of the blog is the live blogging window I will be using for the actual game.. live coverage starts at about 7pm (AUS) / 9pm (NZ), kickoff at 7.30pm (AUS) / 9.30pm (NZ).
If you want to know how it works, click on the "Reader Information" button. If you want to be notified by email when coverage starts, enter your email in the box below. Apart from signing you up to the "Americans for Cloning Elvis" mailing list, your email will not be used for anything else. Note that Coveritlive has an Android and IPhone app: simply install and search the live listings for this event.. this only works after the coverage has started though!
During the event, it's possible to submit comments or questions in the appropriate box.. please feel free! If you are at the event, no, I can't bring you a pie.
